I’m not surprised, really. But it was a tough bugger. After the impact it ran and drove like nothing happened.
In happier times
I feel bad that I didn’t like it more. It did everything I needed it to do. It drove well in the snow, it never broke down, and at the end it kept me alive after a violent impact.
My plan is to not get another car for as long as I can. If I stick to it, I can use the money I was spending on the payment to start paying off my credit card debt. I really want us to be able to afford a decent vacation next year without resorting to credit cards.
But... I can already see where the plan of me using my partner’s car on weekends may cause us some headaches. So I’m going to do my best to quickly pay off what’s left of a personal loan so that I can have even more money available. If I can do that in the next few months, I could afford to get something to putter around in. I’ve also been able to get some unexpected overtime lately, so who knows?
Goodbye, Korean Camry. You may not have been exciting, but at least you were pretty.

More like Optimeh.

Pretty much. I don't know, maybe the turbo version is fun. There really was nothing wrong with it, though. It's just not fun.

They do seem like decent cars, but just kind of meh. That’s about my thought on the Hyundai/Kia rental cars I get. Decent cars, but there is nothing exciting about them at all. They’re just cars.

No chance of just getting something like a cheap $1000 beater to putter around in for the time being?

What, with that rear end collision you posted?

No, that’s his car. It’s in the shop getting fixed now. This was mine:
It chewed on a teenager’s Chevy Sonic when he failed to yield right of way.

i believe as you pay off those CC’s and lower your debt ratio your credit score goes up so lower car loan rate, saving money all over the place....

That’s the plan. I don’t need a car anymore unless I really want one, so I can try to live without one for a while.

I’m thinking about it, but I don't really have any money saved so it'd be a couple months before I could do it.

Ouch. Everyone ok?

I think with a hit that hard it’s better to just scrap it most times . I’d always be worried something was going to fall apart or just not be right if they try to put it back together again...

So your insurance payout on the Kia is going towards your debt?
![]() 07/02/2018 at 22:53 |

Nope. It'll pay off part of the loan (it was worth less than I still owed) and gap coverage will cover the rest. So basically it removed that debt and the monthly payment from my life. And the car, too.

Yeah, it was just me in my car, and the other driver in his. We both walked away, though the airbag caught my right forearm pretty bad. It's already healed, just some scrapes from the airbag inflating.

Me too. I was worried they’d say they could fix it, and then it would have been worth even less and I’d always worry if everything was truly fixed.

Well at least it wasn't a car you cared about. Cant beat that.

have you considered buying something cheap, ~$1000 just to get around if you get absolutely need to?

Yeah, I may do that eventually. But the pull of using that money to pay off things is surprisingly strong.
I didn’t need to use our car this past weekend, and we’re both off this weekend, so there hasn't been a problem yet.

Sounds like 2 wheel time. Full set of leathers has more than one use btw

Oh God no. I’d be terrified to ride a motorcycle in this city.
In order to pull off the leather look, I’d probably have to hit the gym and drop a few pounds. Could be wort h it though.

Yeah.. I have driven in Denver... Though I have to say I think it would have been better on a bike.
Plenty pull off the leather without being “ideally fit” hell I know if you ride around that part of the city you’ll get attention I know it.

Not only do you get to save the payment amount, you also get to save the insurance payment amount.

Yes, but due to all the multi-line discounts we had it'll really only save us $20 or $30 per month. Still extra money in our pockets though.
